Job Details: Job Summary To assist in the clerical and clinical management of the Dialysis Center and act as administrative assistant to the management staff of the department. Responsibilities Keeps patient information up to date in professional patient file and affinity, by entering monthly lab work, med changes and other clinical circumstances. Registers, admits and discharges all dialysis patients to the Dialysis units in the EMR system. Schedules CAPD monthly clinics (includes: set up date, time and lab work for patients, mail out notices). Prints out patient care forms for multi-disciplinary team. Sets up, correlates and enters monthly and bi-monthly blood work for hemodialysis patients. Makes up packets for RO water and machine cultures monthly to include: completion of forms, notification to Lab of pickup and arrival times. Notifies management of results. Responsible for copying Lab work to send to primary physicians, Nephrologist, billing and appropriate agencies. Types and sends out agendas and minutes for various committees or unit documents as needed. Collects data and distributes to appropriate staff for QA purposes. Orders all office supplies, Lab supplies for all units of the Dialysis Department. Performs any other duties as assigned. Qualifications/Requirements EXPERIENCE Minimum - some previous clerical experience; preferred - prior medical experience EDUCATION Minimum - High School Diploma; preferred - 2 yr. College degree Physical Requirements PHYSICAL ACTIVITY While performing this job, the employee will frequently be required to walk, sit and stand, employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 lbs, frequently lift or more up to 50 lbs., and on occasion, lift or move up to 100 lbs. The job requires close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. OTHER PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS While performing this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and risk of radiation. The noise level in the work area is usually moderate. Employee must have ability to speak, hear, read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and policy and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to apply common sense, understanding to carry out instructions furnished in writing, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. While performing this job, the employee will frequently be required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach and stretch with hands and arms.
