The Position
Highway Maintenance Workers are certified by the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) to operate a variety of complex or specialized highway maintenance and construction equipment in order to restore and maintain the integrity of roadway surfaces; maintain roadside slopes, shoulders, culverts and ditches to restore drainage and prevent erosion; and repair or replace related roadway appurtenances such as guardrails, markers, guide posts and fences.

Highway Maintenance Worker III's are responsible for the maintenance, repair, construction, sweeping, and cleaning of state highways, curbs, gutters, storm drains, rights-of-way and similar facilities. The work involves considerable physical exertion, including heavy lifting up to 50 lbs., the ability to sit, stand, kneel and walk on flat surfaces and hilly terrain with vegetation. Most work is performed outdoors and involves exposure to the hazards associated with working around traffic and heavy equipment. The candidate will possess and hold a Class A CDL during employment.
