Early Childhood Individual Assistant

About the Position:

Care and Curriculum

  • Provide unbiased, trauma-informed care of children according to developmental needs.
  • Ensure the safety, well-being, and continuous supervision of children at all times.
  • Alert the Childcare Coordinator with developmental concerns.
  • Work as part of a team to provide individualized support to a child at times, as well as helping run the classroom.
  • Create and maintain a clean, safe, and healthy environment for children.

Communication and Collaboration
  • Maintain good working relationships with community organizations (VNA, SSTA, etc.)
  • Consult with community partners as needed.
  • Report suspected child abuse or neglect to DCF in accordance with regulations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of children and families.
  • Communicate and reiterate Lund's policies related to parents when necessary.
  • Provide helpful information and resources to parents as needed.
  • Model appropriate interactions with children for parents
  • Maintain professional behavior consistently.
  • Report any concerns regarding staff, children, or families to the Childcare Coordinator and aid in the resolution as appropriate.
  • Complete daily paperwork for classrooms and programs including, but not limited to, Bright Wheel documentation, nutrition, and meal counts in an objective, unbiased, and timely manner.

  • Starting rate of $22/hour
  • This IA position is to help support our older toddler classroom. The IA would work with the other two teachers to support the classroom. Collaboratively, these three teachers (IA and two teachers) work to support the needs of children in the classroom. This is a grant funded position.

What We Look For:
  • A CDA or associate's degree in early childhood (or related field); one year of experience working with young children is preferred.

    • Upon conditional offer of employment, must be able to successfully pass a background investigation.
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks effectively in a busy environment with frequent interruptions.
    • Ability to deescalate and resolve sensitive situations respectfully
