Crane Operator (NCCER/ NCCCO Certified) - Plaquemine, LA


Job Details

Turner Industries Group is looking for NCCER or NCCCO certified Crane Operator for work in the Plaquemine, LA area.

Crane operator will be responsible for operation of various power driven and hydraulic machinery which are used to move materials. Responsibilities include providing crane lifting and rigging support in addition to equipment preventative maintenance and inspection.

  • NCCER or NCCCO certification required (large swing cab up to 120 tons)
  • Candidates must be able to pass drug test
  • Must have valid Driver's license

  • Per diem and relocation are not available for this position
Functional Requirements:
  • Read and sign off on JSA.
  • Operates overhead crane from a cab.
  • Receives verbal communication from employees where location of crane is needed to move materials throughout accessible areas.
  • Stays awake, alert and is aware of surroundings.
  • Uses hand levers to control functions of the crane.
  • Performs daily inspection of crane.
  • Reports any unsatisfactory findings to the Foreman.
  • Reads and interprets load charts.
  • Understands hand signals for communicating with employees in work area.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment at all times.
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
Qualification Standards:
  • High school or equivalent
  • Preferably one (1) to two (2) years of experience in specified skill
  • NCCCO or NCCER Overhead Crane Operator certification
  • Pre-employment qualification test if applicable
  • Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation
  • Hazard Communication orientation/test
  • Turner Industries Group LLC Indoctrination
  • OSHA approved corrective eye wear (Z87)
  • Job site orientation
  • Job site "Personal Protective Equipment" requirements (hearing protection, safety glasses, long sleeve shirt,
    gloves, steel toe boots, etc.)
  • Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace


Physical Involvement:

Employee may be required to do the following: climbing into and out of equipment; reaching in all directions, handling and manipulating objects and materials; coordinating the movements of eyes, hands, fingers and feet to operate tools and equipment; lifting 30 to 50 pounds from ground level, waist level, and/or overhead; carrying objects, tools, equipment, etc.; standing; sitting; walking; pushing; pulling; bending; kneeling; crouching/squatting; crawling; seeing with or without correction; hearing with or without correction

Work Environment Factors:
Location: industrial maintenance and construction sites and/or pipe fabrication facility
Mobility Barriers to Access Job Site: uneven ground level; obstructed pathways; work performed at low and/or high elevations; work performed in confined areas
Climatic/Environmental Conditions at Job Site: predominately outdoor climate; may be exposed to extreme hot or cold weather, excessive humidity, rain, etc.; various noise levels caused by tools, machinery, equipment, etc.; potential exposure to chemical substances
