Job Description

SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Director of IAI, the Coordinator for International Education supports academic services for international graduate students that contribute to a quality student experience. Services include pre-arrival modules for academic success, academic guidance at orientation, advising, intercultural workshops, seminars, academic programming, and assessment. The coordinator works with Graduate Admissions, Fulbright placement officers, Graduate Coordinators, Student Development & Campus Life, and Enrollment Management to ensure critical collaboration and communication between divisions.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop and maintain online academic success modules for international students.
  • Lead and coordinate all academic aspects of international student orientations.
  • Organize and deliver post-arrival academic workshops, seminars, and programming designed for academic success.
  • Provide logistical support for IAI programming.
  • Liaise with Student Development and Campus Life and Enrollment Management on post-arrival academics and sense of belonging for international students.
  • Collaborate with Global Engagement to ensure thorough and clear communication to students about their academics as they move from applicant, to admitted, then begin classes.
  • Lead IAI's intercultural learning assessment efforts.
  • Launch and coordinate a peer mentor program for international students at Montclair.
  • Collaborate with staff to ensure successful advising of international students, especially Graduate Program Coordinators.
  • Advise international students about resources available on campus, in support of student success, sense of belonging, and a strong reputation for Montclair.
  • Maintain robust Navigate availability for in-person, Zoom, and phone advising with international students.
  • Develop and maintain a strong knowledge of international education.
  • Assist with other programs and projects of the IAI office.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Management retains the right to add or change job duties at any time.


QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED:
  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of two years of professional experience in higher education.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Experience working across divisions.


PREFERRED:
  • Highly developed intercultural skills.
  • Prior experience working with international students.
  • Experience with the essential software platforms used across campus.
  • Ability to communicate in a language other than English.
  • Attention to detail and a track record of successful, detailed work in a fast-paced office.
