Job Description :

Sets up and ope***s plating equipment to protect surfaces in accordance with procedure specification. Ensure work is accomplished with high quality, in a timely fashion and is compliant with all company, city, state and federal regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform metal finishing (i.e., plating) within prescribed Industry-Standards and internal work instructions.
Demonst*** familiarity with the manufacturing computer systems to maintain labor and shop order records.
Maintain manual data collection systems such as Chemical Log Sheets and Autonomous Maintenance Charts for the purpose of monitoring and controlling processes within each area of responsibility.
Using laboratory equipment, conduct routine chemistry tests; including pH, density, and concentration of solutions. Make-up and adjust bath chemistry to conform to required specifications.
Support operation of the waste water treatment system and treatment tanks by mixing chemicals, pumping sludge, running filter press, replacing filters and operating transfer pumps.
Perform inspection function for the team as required.
Possess the desire and ability to learn the operation and maintenance of the various machines in the area.
Sets up and controls electrolytic plating equipment to coat metal objects in accordance with process sheets and applicable specifications.
Performs laboratory tests in accordance with prescribed standards to determine chemical and physical characteristics of finished plating and/or process solutions to determine conformity to process specification.
Maintains in-process written records as required to comply with applicable standards and parts routers.
Prepares and maintains chemical solutions in accordance with standard formulas and specifications.
Operates all equipment in plating room as required to de-burr, clean, passivate, plate, etc. in accordance with parts process sheets and applicable standards.
Maintains chemical inventory in the plating room and initiates requisitions for replacement materials as required.
Performs basic chemistry math/formulas./and volume.
Follows safety procedures and applicable environmental regulations in handling and disposing of solutions and chemicals.
Verifies chemical containers are not leaking or damaged (dents, bends, tears, etc.) before accepting delivery. Transports chemicals using safe handling equipment and methods.
May direct the activities of other employees in the plating area has directed by supervisor.
Must successfully complete the Hazardous Materials Handling Class within 90 days of starting job and must be trained annually thereafter.
Maintain materials, equipment, and work area in a clean and orderly condition.
Comply with all rules and regulations of United Technologies, including, but not limited to:

Environmental Health and Safety, Ethics, International Trade Compliance and Human Resources.
Complete assigned tasks, not specifically listed, within the scope and skill level of this job description in support of department objectives and to develop individual skills.
Check work methods and results for conformance to standards and re-instruct as required.
Report to lead or supervisor on work progress and updates including conditions surrounding failures to meet quality standards.
Other duties as assigned.

Required Skill Set :

In order to be considered for this position, candidates must have:

Blueprint and Op Sheet reading and comprehension;
Working knowledge of basic chemistry as applied to plating operations.
Obtain certifications and qualifications required to perform job.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Attention to detail in order to ensure safety and quality.
Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
The ability to work in a team to support work capacity in a fast-paced environment.
Intermediate computer skills in terms of typing, navigating screens and learning new software programs.
Demonstrated analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.
The ability to take direction from more experienced coworkers, leads and supervisors.

Education Qualification :
High school diploma or equivalent required.
3-5 years of related experience preferred.
