At BMC, the Customer Service Yard associate is responsible for creating a welcoming, effective, and beneficial customer experience. This reliable team member provides assistance to customers in pulling their orders, inspecting merchandise, and making returns. They also provide assistance and support to their team.

**Major Responsibilities:**

- Provide sales assistance to customers on orders and returns.

- Must successfully pass company-provided forklift operator training program and maintain authorization through safe operation and following of procedures.

- Operate forklift to load and unload trucks and rail cars as directed by supervisor.

- Assist truck drivers in loading merchandise and materials ensuring it is safely and properly handled to prevent damage.

- Assist truck drivers in unloading of and returning of credit items.

- Ensure these items are returned to proper storage location.

- Unload incoming freight and check count to see if it is correct.

- Complete necessary reports, i.e., check orders filled, check material received and forklift inspections sheets.

- Keep work area clean and litter free.

- Requires working out in the weather.

- Perform duties in a safe manner observing safe procedures while constantly alert to any unsafe working conditions.

- Load and safely handles customer orders.

- Maintain knowledge of proper identification of inventory items.

- Locate and pull correct items by type, style and quantity as directed by supervisor to fill order completely, quickly and with accuracy.

- Pull orders from stock, load orders onto delivery trucks and unload stock as it comes in; maintain work area in clean and orderly manner.

- Assist supervisor, other associates and other work areas as assigned by location management.

Required Skills

- Minimum Education: High school diploma (GED).

- Trained and functional in operating forklift with hand and foot controls.

- Ability to do basic math, read instructions and complete forms.

- Communicate with customers, other associates and supervisors using verbal and written skills.

- Knowledge and ability to use safe lifting techniques.

- Ability to lift up to and including 100 lbs. on a repetitive basis.

Required Experience

- Minimum Experience: 1-2 years experience in building materials industry.
