To learn more about Berry, visit Berry offers competitive wages and a full benefits package including tuition assistance and 401(k), New Incentive Program , and a dynamic work environment JOIN OUR TEAM Shift Schedule: Monday - Friday 8 Hours Shift Responsibilities Purpose The Maintenance Technician's primary duty is to ensure that all site equipment and office area are maintained in optimal running condition and all necessary repairs and preventative maintenance are managed in a cost-efficient and prompt manner to ensure minimal downtime. Five years previous industrial or manufacturing maintenance experience is required. An estimated 1 year of OTJ training will be necessary to acquire the skills, overall understanding, and basic performance requirements of the equipment, facility and overall position. Primary Job Functions Promptly respond to emergency maintenance calls. Quickly identify and assess existing or potential problems and take appropriate actions to prevent or reduce equipment downtime for corrective maintenance. This would include the ability to: Utilize skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines. Analyze all facts and technical information to determine root cause of problem and device best method to repair the equipment. Will be necessary to read and understand diagrams, schematics, sketches, operation manuals and manufacturer specifications. Dismantle, repair, install, or replace defective parts or call in an outside technician Use hand tools or various power tools while performing job functions Fabricate, assemble, and test parts as needed Complete all work orders Complete scheduled preventative maintenance General Duties Responsible for Forklift Training and Certification program Drive LOTO program, Hands on training and Yearly Inspections. Contact parts or equipment suppliers or licensed contractors as necessary to get costs and availability of parts or contract services Submit requisitions for supplies, materials, tools, machine parts and other necessary equipment Utilize outside licensed contractors when needed, after receiving authorization from Operations Manager. Monitor all on-site contractor work and ensure that proper safety procedures are followed (such as lock out tag out, confined space, etc.) and that repairs are completed in cost and time efficient manner Notify everyone associated with machine repairs and site maintenance issues such as machine operators, department manager, EH&S Manager, Operations Manager, etc. regarding lock out tag out, major repairs, estimated downtime, etc. Maintain records and prepare applicable reports following repairs, preventative maintenance, etc. Comply with all job related ISO quality procedures (maintain required controlled forms, work instructions, and procedures and respond to any corrective/preventive actions in a timely manner) Manage MRO inventory through JDE Perform other duties as required and directed Qualifications Education, Experience, Skills MinimumHigh SchoolDiploma or GED Minimum 5 years previous maintenance mechanic or technician experience required in manufacturing environment Minimum 3 years hands on routine electrical experience Minimum 3 years fabrication welding experience Minimum 2 years hands on experience with pneumatic and hydraulic equipment Previous forklift experience; current certification preferred Must have working knowledge of compressors, hoists, exhaust fans, and boilers Knowledge of Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) helpful Basic computer skills required Must be able to drive and possess a valid drivers license Must be able to communicate fluently in English (speaking, reading, writing) We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and do not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, sex, age, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, status as a veteran, and basis of disability or any other federal, state or local protected class.
