Meter Services Worker - Workforce Solutions for Tarrant

Job Details

Job Summary: Under general direction, completes daily work orders related to meter services including installation, termination, lock outs, repairs, and resolving problems in the field.

Essential Job Functions:

Ability to turn on water services for new customers, turn off for closed or delinquent accounts, and record meter readings for final billings in assigned territory.
Ability to respond to emergency calls; investigate customer complaints related to pressure, flow, leaks, or high consumption.
Ability to replace defective control meters and control valves, leaking gaskets, damaged boxes, and lids to the metering site.
Ability to assist on large meter crew performing maintenance on meters size 3" to 10".

Other Job Functions:

Ability to perform scheduled change outs of aged or malfunctioning meters, 3/4" to 1" in size.
Ability to assist meter reading in facilitating safe access to metering sites by repairing reported defects and clearing impediments at the metering site.

Minimum Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

Knowledge of water utilities and operations, policies, procedures, and ordinances.
Knowledge of specifications for all size meters and metering sites, metering functions and related terminology.
Skills in the maintenance of water meter and service connections.
Skills in quickly ascertaining problems with malfunctioning meters and determining quick resolutions.
Ability to use a variety of tools and equipment used in the trade.
Ability to understand and visualize combined metering scenarios.
Ability to respond to an on a scheduled on-call basis and to work extended periods of time under imposed emergency assignments.
Ability to lift or exert forces equivalent to lifting up to 100 lbs.
Ability to perform arithmetic calculations accurately.
Ability to work in confined spaces under extreme weather conditions.
Ability to operate a variety of equipment including, but not limited to PC, calculator, 2-way radio, jack hammer, and porta-power winch.
Ability to perform a variety of physical skills including but not limited to carrying, data entry, dragging, driving, holding, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, seeing, sorting, sitting, standing, squatting, stooping, twisting body, walking and writing.
Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and make fine discriminations in sound.

Qualifying Education and Experience:

Completion of high school.

Must successfully pass a background check
