Northern Light Maine Coast HospitalDepartment: Environmental ServicesPosition is located: Northern Light Maine Coast HospitalWork Type: Part Time EligibleHours Per Week: 20 Hours per WeekWork Schedule: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PMSummary:Under the direction of the Director, Safety & Environmental Services, the Environmental Technician/Porter is responsible for cleaning all areas of the hospital according to policies and procedures.Responsibilities:Performs 7 Step cleaning of patient rooms, nursing units/offices, clinical areas, waiting areas, lobbies, lounges, and rest roomsFollows discharge cleaning procedures as writtenFollow infection control guidelines when cleaning precaution roomsUtilizes the appropriate chemicals and supplies according to procedures.Uses and maintains equipment properly.Removes trash, biomedical waste, and soiled linen from patient rooms to appropriate disposal areas for Porter pick up.Replenishes paper supplies, bedside and bio bags as needed.Makes additional rounds for trash removal in patient roomsEnsures cubical curtains are hung correctly.Keeps housekeeping cart clean at all time and replenishes supplies on cartReplenishes supplies in designated closetFollows all infection control practices including hand hygiene techniques, standard precautions and isolation precautions.Observes safety precautions at all time and reports hazards as appropriatePuts in work orders when necessaryRemoves "wet floor" signs after floor is dry.Assures cleaning cart is secured at all times, includes taking the cart off units when going on breakWears PPE as appropriateReplaces sharps container when filled to appropriate level.Understands how to read Safety Data Sheets and where they are locatedResponds to pages as they are receivedLogs beds in computer Bed Status report and Bed BookIn absence of Porter removes soiled linen from units to appropriate storageIn absence of Porter removes trash from units to appropriate storageIn absence of Porter removes biomedical waste from units to appropriate storageIn absence of Porter dry mops corridor floorsPerforms additional Porter functions as necessaryParticipates in Northern Light Health recycling program.Participates in the washing of cleaning cloths/mops and slingsCompletes work assignments in a timely manner.Completes task area sheets daily.Other Information:Competencies and SkillsBehaves with Integrity and Builds Trust: Acts consistently in line with the core values, commitments and rules of conduct.
